As The Scottish Rite Temple is not available on September 18th, We are going to handle the North Texas Area Degree Days a little differently this time. We are still planning on having it at the Dallas Scottish Rite on stage in the future, probabaly in early 2011.

I thought you both might like a feel good story resulting from our involvement with Relay for Life. This chapter has been participating for years. This year they did a MASH theme for their setup.
We had some interesting things happen last night.
One of our 4 new initiates last night, had been at Relay for Life. He placed in the trike races we sponsored. The prize package was one of those little fabric back pack things that is flat and has strings on the side - anyway they were camo bags like that and winners got a relay survival kit in it, with tooth brush, tooth paste, flash light, hat, water bottle, free pizza, meals, putt putt passes, pool passes, and so on. One of the kids that won put his camera, and wallet in the bag and promptly left it setting some place at the event and walked off without it. It was found and brought to us recognizing our army gear and thinking it was part of our MASH theme . We opened it found the wallet, but nobody at our site at the time knew the name in the wallet, so we kept it and after the event was over it was delivered to his house. All his money, prizes and everything were there and he was shocked it got returned.
Last night, he said every time we walked by our campsite there was lots of activity and everyone was having fun and when he heard how much we raised he decided he should find out about us. After that even he got his stuff returned by us.
He went on line ended up on our facebook page, saw names of our members, contacted one of our members, got more information then went back to facebook and responded he wanted to come to the initiation last night and join. He showed in his tie, had his money and I think will make a great member. One point for facebook.
Also last night another of the young men took a white flower during the flower talk. Joe W. (doing FT) and others were noticeably shaken. The flower talk will have new meaning to all them. Last night as the young man was leaving he said I plan to put the flower by my mother's picture. The ritual can be powerful when done right.
Every now and again you have a meeting where you feel like what we do is significant and last night was one of those nights for me.
